It’s here! It’s here! National running day! Well to us runners it’s just a Wednesday. A Wednesday run with a lot more buzz around it! As you all see on my social media, you can find that I pretty much celebrate all my runs. I’ve said it time and time again, Running is a gift. It is a privilege that not all have.

There are days where I am scheduled to run, but I can’t because the task of getting out of bed is greater than anything else. My goal for the day will switch to just making it to the bathroom, or the kitchen. Running definitely is one, if not THE toughest sport out there. Besides being physically demanding, it is also a lot of mental strength involved. And if running has taught me anything, it’s shown me that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

I battle with Scoliosis, Fibromyalgia, a brain tumor, chronic migraines and headaches. But it’s not once in a while, once a month, it’s every single day. I could easily give in to my chronic battles, but I don’t. I have NEVER used any of my chronic illnesses as an excuse to not get out there in run. It’s the opposite actually, it’s almost like fuel to running.

I’ve been labeled a ‘fighter’ by most of you and I stay true to the word. Because I refuse to let any of my diseases beat me. They may knock me down, but I always get back up. Running gives me the strength I need to keep fighting and keep going. It isn’t just running to me, its my source of power, strength, and courage.

With that said, the Orlando Sentinel published an incredibly well written piece on me today in honor of Global Running Day and I am beyond honored. I was in the newspaper and they also made an amazing video.

For those non local, here is the news article and the video. Click the link below:

I strive to do the best I can with what I have. I am determined to beat all of this and continue running. Knowing I have such a large group of people standing with me as I fight my illnesses, makes it a lot easier to do so.
