I can’t believe how quickly the time has flew by!!! I feel like just yesterday I was sitting in front of my computer waiting for the clock to strike 12 so I can sign up for the Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge! Was I really about to sign up for this challenge? Can I do it??? OF COURSE!!!!! There is no doubt in my mind that I could tackle this “Goofy” Challenge I was planning to do!

For those who aren’t too familiar with the Goofy Challenge, it is running the Walt Disney World Half marathon, and full marathon back to back. Totaling 39.3 miles.

course

I have ran both races, but separate years. I ran the marathon in January of this year and it was tough. I hadn’t trained like I wanted but things are sooooo different this year. I am training my butt off! I know these 39.3 miles will won’t be easy but I will be prepared for whats to come.

Alpha and I will be running through my beautiful Cinderella’s castle twice!!!! The feeling that overcomes when I get to RUN through there is indescribable! I am excited that I will be doing this  twice in 39 days! This will be the biggest challenge I have ever done in my running journey. The most I’ve ever ran was a full marathon which was done this year. I will say that my favorite distance to run is a half marathon. The 13.1 miles is enough to push my body past my limits but not too much where I am miserable. This will be my second marathon and hoping that I feel the same way about pushing the limits. 😉

I wasn’t as prepared mentally as I should’ve been for the 26.2 miles. I was more scared and intimidated, but I have not only prepared my body, but I have also trained my mind. I always say and believe that your mind is more powerful than any other muscle. Whatever you think, your body will follow. I have trained my mind to focus on my strengths, my goal, and my want to succeed. It had worked so far and gotten me to every goal I have set for myself.

It sounds crazy to non runners, but I actually enjoy running long distance. I like being tired, sweaty, and finishing. Knowing that I just ran the “X” amount of miles is so rewarding. I am not fast and I need my breaks to breathe, I always finish. I don’t go for time, I go for distance. Running to me is a fun way to prove to myself that I am capable of whatever I set my mind to.

I am excited to wear the costumes that are almost done for both races. If you’ve been following me for a while now you should have an idea as to who or what Alpha and I will be 😉 Running races at Disney is all about fun. There is so much to see on course and so many fellow runners in costume, its almost a must! Its so exciting to see characters, or things you wouldn’t see on a regular day at Walt Disney World. Overall its an unforgettable experience I can’t wait to do!

Being a Scoliosis runner, I am constantly under estimated. Running with the severity of my Scoliosis is almost unheard of, but I know that nothing is impossible. I have dreams to make a reality and I won’t stop until I do!
